100 Mile Diet show on Food Network
In our grandparents’ time, living on a 100 mile diet wasn’t that strange. But today we can just as easily buy New Zealand lamb as Canadian, and we can get pineapples and mangoes from the tropics as conveniently as we can get apples from Ontario or BC.
While this gives us tremendous choice at our supermarkets, many of us have come to learn that having access to farm fresh local produce is almost always best. That’s what we believe at Keystone Processors and it’s why we’re in the process of creating a company that will bring Manitoba beef to Manitoba tables.
For those of you interested in learning more about 100 mile diets, check out the Food Network’s show of the same name.
It’s hosted by James MacKinnon and Alisa Smith, two of the most prominent figures of the local eating movement in Canada. They wrote The 100-Mile Diet: A Year of Local Eating and are helping six families on the show eat a local diet.
And you’ll find Keystone Processors listed among the local options for Manitoba too.
