On behalf of the hundreds of cattle producers who have helped make Keystone Processors possible, we want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas, happy Hanukah and a happy new year too.
We have an exciting year ahead of us as we continue our plant renovations and upgrades. Parts of the old building will need to be torn down to make way for new construction. Our retail store will be “beefed up” (pardon the pun) as we hope to win plenty of new local customers with the great taste of our delicious, premium Manitoba raised beef.
Meanwhile, we are also ramping up our marketing activities, meeting with buyers and potential buyers all over Canada, the U.S. and the world.
As you gather with your friends and family this holiday season, we hope you’ll find peace and health and happiness. And we also hope you’ll enjoy all of that while carving into a succulent piece of Manitoba beef from Keystone Processors.
See you in 2010!

Happy Hanukah, Merry Christmas
We were really pleased to hear the provincial government has renewed its pledge to support a Buy Local program in Manitoba. The official word came in the speech from the throne last week and it’s very timely indeed. We’re not sure what that support will look like yet, but we’ll be the first in line to sign on to a strong Buy Local program like those that already exist in Ontario and BC and many other places.
Our province has abundant quantities of high quality food. While our climate may not allow us to grow artichokes, broccoli or grapes for wine, we raise some of the best beef, pork and chicken in the world. We also have terrific cheese makers and high quality vegetables, and even some great fruits with our apples and berries.
We believe people should buy local food for the great, fresh taste alone, but there are many other reasons too. Read more…

Keystone Processors Ltd. was pleased to celebrate this Christmas and holiday season by giving back to the community it serves with a donation today of 200 lbs of ground beef, 60 lbs of roasts and nearly 200 lbs of soup bones to Siloam Mission.
It hasn’t been an easy time for cattle producers over the past few years, but we believe strongly in supporting our community. The holidays remind us that kindness is a value that should never be in short supply. There are too many hungry people in our own backyard and we’re happy to make this small donation to help.
Siloam Mission is a connecting point between the compassionate and Winnipeg’s less fortunate, Siloam Mission is a Christian humanitarian agency offering programs and services at no charge to those experiencing homelessness. Siloam Mission alleviates the hardships of the poor and homeless, assists in transitioning them into self-sufficient and generous lifestyles and advocates nationwide on their behalf.
Pictured in the photo above is Linda Vinck, Food Services Manager with Siloam Mission, along with Corry Berndsen, our VP of Operations and Kelly Penner, our President and CEO (and a cattle farmer himself). You can find more photos on our Facebook page. There was also a story in the Winnipeg Free Press today mentioning the donation, and CTV took some video today for tonight’s newscast. We also heard it on CJOB and CHVN. Thanks to all the media for publicizing the Mission. We hope it leads to more donations. Read more…

I want to tell you a story. It’s about some farmers who care deeply for producing some of the best beef in the world right here in Manitoba.
I’m one of those farmers and I’m also the President and CEO of Keystone Processors Ltd., a new Manitoba beef company. In 2003, I joined with a few dozen other cattle producers who all believed passionately in their abilities to raise and market world-class beef. Our goal is to bring a new premium brand of Manitoba beef to the world.
And we know we can do it. Manitoba is blessed with clean air, plenty of great pasture land, and generations of expertise in raising juicy, delicious, tender beef. For too long, we’ve shipped our animals thousands of miles out of the province only to have our own beef bounce back to us on trucks to be sold in our local supermarkets. Read more…

We’ve put all of our roasts on sale for 15% off until December 14th. With the holiday season just around the corner, we hope you’ll enjoy a pot roast or prime rib from Keystone Processors. You can buy them online, in our store at 663 Marion St., or by phone (204) 235-0454.
All the beef we sell to the public is Natural Prairie Beef brand, which means it’s raised hormone-free right here in Manitoba. And, we’ve taken a huge step forward in food safety with the Natural Prairie Beef brand because it’s fully traceable. That means for any piece of beef you buy, we know which farm it came from.
And once you buy a roast, here’s a great three-tomato pot roast recipe for you to try. You can find dozens of great beef recipes online at www.beefinfo.org. Read more…
