1 1tbsp tbsp(15 mL) (15 mL) canola oil or vegetable oil

Preparation:

Cut beef into 36 pieces; transfer to bowl. Toss with Great Canadian Steak Spice and oil. Thread 3 pieces onto each of twelve 4-inch (10 cm) metal or soaked wooden skewers.

Our annual BBQ was a great success!

June 23rd, 2010

So it turns out (to no surprise), that Winnipeggers like their barbecues!  Our annual barbeque was held today on location at 663 Marion St. and was a great success!

We would like to thank everyone who came out, showed their support and donated to Siloam Mission.

We really lucked out and had fabulous weather. With the sun shining and the aroma of delicious burgers, hotdogs and steaks in the air, we ended up attracting and serving close to 100 people, from families to business people.

Larry Updike, Senior Communications and Advocacy Spokesperson of Siloam Mission with Kelly Penner, President and CEO of Keystone Processors Ltd.

We greatly appreciate everyone attending.  It was a lot of fun talking to Winnipeggers about our products and what we do here at Keystone Processors Ltd, while serving our premium Manitoba-raised Natural Prairie Beef products.  And it was also very gratifying to see so many of our guests buying a box of our products to take home.

If you would like to buy some of our products, all of our steaks are 15% off, until Sunday, June 27th. Visit our online store to learn more.

Thanks to everyone for taking part and making the event such a great success! We can’t wait until next year!

4 great ways to get your barbeque ready for grilling season

June 9th, 2010

Don’t enter the season without spring cleaning your most important cooking tool – the barbeque.

Here’s how to tune your grill up on a budget.

Remember how much you used your barbeque last summer? Before you start grilling away to the same extent this year, it’s important to show your grill a little tender love and care. Here are quick, easy and inexpensive tips to give your barbeque the perfect tune up so you can get your grill on!

You’ll need:
• A strong bristle brush
• Mild soap and water

1. Give it a good scrub
With last year’s remnants hanging on to your grill for dear life, it’s due time to give it a good scrub with some mild soap and warm water. If your grill is in bad shape and hasn’t been replaced in a while, consider investing in a new one. Fixed-sized grills and expandable ones are easy to find at any hardware store. If you have cast iron cooking grids, be sure to season them will oil. The oil will help protect the porcelain coating, decrease sticking, and protect damaged or worn grids from rusting.

2. Take it apart
Take apart as much of your barbeque as you can and give the inside (and outside) of your barbecue oven a good scrub with some soap and water and a strong bristled brush, paying extra attention to those spots with lots of grease. For those really tough spots, use a strong degreaser.

Chef Rob creates another delicious dish!

June 3rd, 2010

Just when we thought Chef Rob from iTV Winnipeg’s Chef’s Pantry Raid couldn’t make a more delicious dish with our products, he does it again with a tender flank steak.

In this episode Chef Rob raids Linda’s pantry and demonstrates how to tenderize and marinate a flank steak.  He also chooses the perfect accompaniments to complete the meal.

Chef Rob shows how easy it is to make a tasty and unique dish using items you already have in the kitchen.

Flank steaks and all of our products are available at our online store.

The final product looks so appetizing, we’re jealous we’re not sitting with Chef Rob and Linda on her balcony!
